Presidents Message
Our recent networking event at the Hotel Zetta in San Francisco was a great success and we received plenty of positive feedback that it was an ideal forum to connect with the local AACC community. This event came about after we had heard from a number of our members that because our calendar was focused on formal business & cultural events they wanted to attend an event with a more casual atmosphere. So we responded by organizing the networking event as a way to promote a hybrid of business and social interactions. This was clearly evident on the night with many new connections being made. Given the popularity of this event, our next one is already scheduled for June 16, look forward to seeing you there.

In April the AACC will be commemorating the ANZAC Day Centenary at the Presidio in San Francisco. The events in Gallipoli 100 years ago are said to have had a profound influence on Australia as a nation and the character of Australians of today. The Anzacs displayed great courage, endurance, initiative, discipline, and mateship where such qualities are now seen as the Anzac spirit. And so, it is this spirit that we will be commemorating and paying tribute to all those who have served. As always, ours is a family event, so once the service has concluded, stay on for the BBQ and games….. even for two-up if you’re game!

Enjoy the spring weather! As always thank you for your continued support.

ANZAC Service & BBQ

On behalf of the Australian and New Zealand communities in San Francisco, it is our honour to invite you to attend the annual ANZAC Day service to be held in San Francisco on Sunday 26 April 2014.

ANZAC Day is observed by the people of Australia and New Zealand in official recognition of the first time the two young nations fought together overseas
in a major way.

This historic event took place in 1915 at Gallipoli on the Turkish Peninsular and is commemorated by expatriates, as well as their countrymen at home, acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice made by so many at that time and in subsequent conflicts.

Following the ceremony at the Log Cabin, there will be a BBQ with light refreshments and a no host bar. There is also plenty of room for a game of cricket or footy.

Date: Sunday April 26, 2015
Location: Log Cabin, Presidio – San Francisco
Time: 11am Service, 12:30pm BBQ

Australian passports take up to 3 weeks to be issued, including transit time. Please, take a moment to check the expiration date of your Australian passport. Consider renewing your passport if it is expiring within the next 6 months.

Remember, all Australian citizens are expected to enter Australia with an Australian passport, even if they hold a foreign passport. Child and adult renewals can be submitted by mail, accompanied with the relevant original documents. Applications for first child, first adult, and to replace a severely damaged, lost or stolen passport, must be lodged in person.

As of 7 April, 2015, passport applications can be submitted between 9am and 1pm, Monday through Friday, without an appointment. Outside 9am and 1pm an appointment is required, dependent upon availability. Appointments book out 3 weeks in advance.

Please visit our website for more information.

Have you changed your name?

If you have changed your name and would like that change reflected in your passport, please review the instructions online.

The process is different depending on where you were born and where the name change was registered. Applications can be submitted to our office by mail.

Are you out of status and need a passport?

The consulate is not required to report our out-of-status clients to the US government.

Our main concern is to provide an Australian passport to Australian nationals who need to travel. If you are out of status and need to renew or apply for a passport, please refer to our website for instructions and contact our office if you have any questions.

Need your signature witnessed?

Consular officers at our office can certify documents and, for limited documents, witness signatures. If your signature needs to be witnessed on a State issued document, only the Consul-General can perform this service.

An appointment will be necessary for witnessing signatures on a State issued document, even if that document states a consular officer can perform the service. Common State issued documents include drivers licence renewals, land transfers, power of attorneys and bank documents.

Please, contact our office to discuss your notarial needs.
