As part of the APEC Women and the Economy Group, Austrade hosted an intimate roundtable for investment professionals and female founders who are passionate about advancing the integration of women in the economy. Moderated by Consul General and Trade & Investment Commissioner, Odette Hampton, some of the topics discussed included understanding the challenges that traditional methods of VC present to female entrepreneurs and those of diverse backgrounds, what makes Australia an attractive place to invest, and what can be done to attract more US capital into Australia.

The San Francisco Landing Pad will be hosting their next cohort of Australian founders later this month. More than 15 companies will be supported with Austrade’s San Francisco Landing Pad program, which assists Australian tech-enabled scale-ups to land and expand in the US through Go-To-Marketing Planning and US market insights. The program is run remotely and allows founders to plan their US market entry.

SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL OPPORTUNITIES FOR AUSTRALIA |
|
|
Aviation is one of the most challenging industries to decarbonise, contributing 2.5% of the world's total carbon. To address this challenge, building on previous work, CSIRO, in collaboration with Boeing, have conducted an analysis that considers sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) feedstock availability and production potential in the APAC region with a primary focus on Australia and New Zealand. The Sustainable Aviation Fuel Roadmap finds Australia is in a prime position to develop a domestic industry. It identifies opportunities to produce and scale production using Australian feedstocks, and also highlights challenges the nascent industry must address including supply chain constraints, international standards and regulation.
